Mr. Green’s career as a performer in Los Angeles has spanned many different musical styles. He is primarily a classical player, and he has performed with symphonic orchestras and bands across the greater Los Angeles area. In addition, Mr. Green has played with British brass bands, jazz bands, rock bands, pop groups and marching bands. He has performed with studio jazz greats Andy Martin, Wayne Bergeron, singer Monica Mancini, Louie Bellson, heavy metal rockers John Dolmayan and Shavo Odadjian of System of a Down, and funk legend George Clinton.
Green is the music teacher at Phelps Architecture, Construction and Engineering High School in Washington, DC. At Phelps, he teaches music theory and history as part of the school’s core curriculum. He also directs the band program. Mr. Green feels that education and musical outreach are of primary importance in building the musical world of tomorrow. Teenage musicians in all styles of music are the future leaders of the music profession.
Mr. Green holds a Master of Arts degree in Teaching Music from the University of Southern California Rossier School of Education. He earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Tuba Performance, magna cum laude, from the USC Thornton School of Music in 2007. He studied tuba with world renowned artists Tommy Johnson and Jim Self, as well as Los Angeles Philharmonic principal tubist, Norman Pearson. |
